Problem Kids – 2019 EP Release
They’re back! I can’t say I doubted it… Finally, the new music we’ve been catching at shows and on IG posts will be coming out.
Their last release, “Caribbean Slang”, was an 8-song, cover-to-cover type of album. Excellent arrangements, great production and serious bars.
“I’m pretty sure this year has some new studio recordings in store for our fans,” said Eddy Davis, bass player for the band. “We’ve been writing for months now, and although we don’t meet as much, the new material is really refreshing.”
Slated to be released is a 5-song project which, according to the band, has not been named yet. “We haven’t even picked the songs we’re going to put on the EP yet”, said Marty, MC for the band, when asked about the title of the project. “I’m hoping we can all decide on a good title quickly this time, unlike ‘Caribbean Slang’ which took forever to name.”
“We kept writing because that’s just something we all needed to focus on. It’s important that we stay creative one way or another,” said Omar Williams, guitars.
After visiting during a rehearsal, I definitely heard how their sound is evolving into something really special. They showed me 3 of the possible records going on the project and I was floored. It’s as if they’re bringing this band flavor to real hip hop. I almost can’t wait to hear what these songs will sound like after a proper studio recording.
Coming up…
Problem Kids will be performing throughout the year across South Florida. I believe their next show is March 2020 for Carnaval on the Mile, a large music festival held on Miracle Mile in Miami, Florida.
Their music has evolved to where they get better and better with every new project. Many times, we become disenfranchised with artists we love when they try to evolve and change their sounds too drastically, eliminating the things that made them special to begin with. In my opinion, this is not the case with PK. Their evolution has taken a powerful turn toward the better with songs that really speak to me and the people I’ve had with me.
